Enjoy The Things That Are Unexpected

Hey, how are ya?!

This time of year always seems a bit hectic for me, as I try to balance midterms, finding the right summer internship, and try to schedule my upcoming motivational speaking events. As always I Enjoy The Things That Are Unexpected.

FYI – my first motivational speaking event is on Sunday, April 8th at 2:00 pm at the Leominster Public Library for any of you that are in the area! I will be discussing what it is like to live with FA, and how I choose to live my life to the fullest while embracing my disease.

Getting back to March Madness, I can’t wait to see what happens. One thing that I do know about these games is that whatever outcomes may seem predictable before the games start are usually wrong. I don’t know why this is, but there’s something about this month that just doesn’t make sense. I want too, but it is difficult to Enjoy The Things That Are Unexpected. Things that happen seem very unlikely, just like Massachusetts getting hit with three nor’easters in the past two weeks. But that’s exactly why I love March, the unpredictable happens.

In my experience, I like craziness. For some reason, l tend to thrive when things get crazy. When the unpredictable happens, I have learned to enjoy the moment instead of choosing to worry or panic. Now don’t get me wrong, when I have a difficult midterm assignment due and I’m not sure how to best approach it, I start to worry. However, I try to stay calm and not let my anxiety take over.

Sometimes, I enjoy not knowing what’s going to happen next. When the unexpected does happen, I now have the opportunity to grow and to respond to it. So, when I predict a team to win the entire NCAA championship and they somehow lose in the Sweet Sixteen, I just move on and find a new team to get behind. Similarly, when I think spring is finally here and all of a sudden we get hit with a miserable nor’ easter in MA, I try not to freak out.

Although times of craziness is hard to handle sometimes, it’s best to embrace it and try to enjoy the adventure that it brings. Just Enjoy The Things That Are Unexpected.

One Love, Joey
